Hello and welcome to Atlantic Guild.
This is a place for people who are curating — or creating — the holidays of escape, rest, and renewal.
This is inspiration for the travel-hungry — the ones tired of corporate blandness and hyped-up hospitality — who want to stay somewhere they are genuinely hosted: by a real thinker, and a real appreciator of place.
We are gathering the sites of cultivation: the ancient adventures, the places of blissful isolation, the models of living and hospitality that feel like a genuine alternative to the way things are usually done. Not by accident of good taste, but because someone who makes things — a gardener, a painter, a potter, a grower, a builder — put their hand to the place itself. Sometimes that's a single, whole vision, built from one person's head to the last nail. Sometimes it's fragments — gathered, arranged, and left to tell their own story of where they stand. At a moment when the old blueprints for how we organise our lives and our work are becoming obsolete, it feels like exactly the right time to look afresh at how we approach the holiday — time away, and what we're really looking for when we travel.
That's what we're doing here — gathering the places made by the people who make things, and the insight and instinct that turn a good idea into somewhere worth going back to.
I built one myself, a retreat on the west coast of Scotland, and I know how much a trusted source of insight and honest, like-minded company would have meant along the way. Atlantic Guild is my attempt to build exactly that — a sourcebook and community for a new era of transformative escape.
However you found your way here, welcome.
